The Erenpreiss brand can trace its roots all the way back to 1922, when Gustavs Ērenpreiss founded a small bicycle workshop in Mazsalaca, Latvia. 50 years later, Gustavs’ factory had become the most renowned facility of its type in the Baltic, supplying around 70 per cent of the country’s bicycles. Sadly, the Second World War intervened and Gustavs was forced to flee the Soviet occupation of Latvia. He died in Germany in 1965, not having had the chance to realise his dream of returning to his homeland and reviving his two-wheeled dreams.

But the story doesn’t end there. 41 years later, Gustavs’ great-great-nephew Toms, sharing his family’s love of the bicycle, opened his first restoration workshop for vintage Ērenpreiss bicycles in Riga. In 2009, he founded the Latvian Vintage Bicycle Club with the aim of encouraging and developing bicycle culture, safeguarding the country’s unique cycling heritage. Witnessing this growing demand at first-hand, Tom began to dream of reviving his great-great-uncle’s dream of producing a new generation of Ērenpreiss bikes in Latvia. In 2010, he established a new company to do just that. The result was a new generation of elegant, durable city bikes that would have made Gustavs proud, staying true to the founder’s cherished principles of design, quality and availability to all.
